LAU Medical Center – Rizk Hospital welcomed students from Eastwood International College and New Century School to discover the latest technologies in medicine.

Under the theme “How the world works” primary year program students from Eastwood International College visited LAU Medical Center – Rizk Hospital to discover and familiarize themselves with the usage of technology in medicine and how technological advances impact the well-being of society.

The school wanted its students to visit the academic medical center, where they can observe advanced technologies used in medicine and ask questions to fulfill their curiosity. Students also had the chance to observe how technology is being used differently in the hospital starting from simple tasks, to using more complex highly advanced technology in interventions and treatments.

The students, with enthusiasm and curiosity, toured the departments of Medical Imaging, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and the Stroke Center.

This helped them explore:

  • People’s use of technology

  • Consequences of technological methods on humans’ well being

  • Growth of medicine to maintain the functioning of the human body

On another hand, a team from New Century School who is participating in the VEX robotics competition had an encounter with Dr. Hady Ghanem, head of the hematology/ oncology division, and presented him with their project: “Integrating calculus in the treatment of Cancer” which they will be submitting to the competition on 2nd March 2019.

This was a great occasion for LAU Medical Center – Rizk Hospital to open its doors to the community and give young students the opportunity to explore, to learn and to experience first-hand the latest in technological advancement that the hospital is placing at the disposal of its medical staff to be able to provide its patients with the ultimate care and attention.

A human touch with the latest in technology sums up the belief of Healing with Compassion.
