Upside-Down Caramelized Apple cake
I have prepared and posted this tasty caramelized apple cake before;Few days ago,I prepared and baked again. The ingredients of the cake are the same the only difference this time, I baked in nonstick 11 inch wide pan, instead of aluminum pan.The result was the same very delicious as always.Very easy fun preparation.Enjoy

Ingredients:
4 medium apples (I use Macintosh apples) cored, peeled and sliced 1cm.round shapes.
1-1/2 cups sugar to caramelize
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cake batter:
1-1/2 cups Crisco
6 extra large whole eggs
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 lemon zest (1/2 teaspoon)

Preparation:

1.Heat a saucepan add sugar and cook over medium heat until dissolved, bring to boil without stirring, until mixture is golden brown.
2. Immediately pour browned sugar mixture into the bottom of 11 inch nonstick pan.
3.Arrange sliced apples over them, sprinkle with cinnamon and add chopped walnuts .

Cake:
1.In a electric cake mixture, beat Crisco with the sugar, until light.
2.Beat in egg,1 at time, beating well after each ,add in vanilla.
3.In a separate bowl sift the flour, baking powder and salt, stir gradually into the cake batter mixture ,mix until combined ,add grated lemon zest mix with a spatula and spread evenly over the apples.
4.Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees F. 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick or cake taster inserted in the middle comes out clean.
5.Immediately invert serving plate onto pan turn over and lift off the pan. When completely cool cover and keep in fridge.

Tip If you use regular aluminum pan don’t worry if little bit caramelized sugar stays at the bottom of the pan.
