This dessert is my family’s favorite.Toasted breads topped with sugar syrup,cooked ashta, sprinkled with cinnamon powder and crushed pistachios,heavenly delicious.Enjoy
Ingredients;
12 toast breads (use only white toast breads)
Ashta:
6 cups whole milk
6 generous tablespoons flour
300gr. unsalted butter
1 tablespoon orange blossom water (may Zaher)
Topping:
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 cup crushed Aleppo pistachios
Sugar syrup:
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon orange blossom flower water (may Zaher)
Preparation for syrup:
In a medium saucepan, add water,sugar,bring to boil add lemon juice continue boiling 5 minutes,add flower water mix and turn off the heat.
Preparation:
1 Toast the breads in oven arrange them in rectangular sheet pan (the pan should be at least 1 inch (2.5 cm.) thickness).
2.Pour hot syrup, evenly over toasted breads.
3.Prepare the ashta
In a large saucepan (use measuring cups)add milk,flour whisk with whisker,add butter cook and stir constantly until the mixture thickens,add flower water stir,turn off the heat.
4. Pour hot ashta over tosted breads,decorate with cinnamon powder and top with crushed Aleppo pistachios.Keep in room temperature until cool, then cover and refrigerate overnight.
5.Serve cold cuting them into small pieces, or keep them square toast size.
