The Lebanese ALS Association – LALS has organized the first ALS MedicalCongress in Lebanon and the Arab world on Thursday June 2 at the Hilton Habtoor Grand Hotel in the presence of more than 100 doctors, specialists, ALS patients and their families.
Writer, TV personality & LALS president Mrs Karen Boustany welcomed the speakers and audience and talked about the Lebanese ALS Association, the first in the Middle East, and about all the important and successful activities and achievements already done for the awareness and fundraising. And she highlighted the importance of this first ALS medical conference. She finally thanked all the sponsors: Bankers Insurance, Benta Pharmaceutical industries and Nadia Travel as well as Hilton Habtoor hotel, Select hostesses and Sky-High.
Three international speakers, who came especially from the USA and UK, presented their latest studies about ALS and the newest researches’ results about this striking disease which is increasing year after year.
Dr. Johnny Salameh, neurologist and specialized in ALS disease has spoken about the general and clinical aspect of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis , Dr. Jemeen Sreedharan an English Professor and researcher talked about the latest outcome and results of this disease and Dr. Dany Abou Abdallah, lung specialist, talked about the problems and solutions of the respiratory problems that an ALS patient encounter.
Dr. Jamil Zogheib, founder of LALS and ALS patient, had also a special appearance and presentation.
Ten minutes of the Murex winning movie “Jamil a flying soul” was broadcasted after which engineer Jad Bsaibes explained about the eye tracking system that he has built at a very affordable price.
At the end, a panel of Q/A was helpful for all the attendees to ask all the questions they have to the three specialized doctors.
Once again the LALS has proven the hard work and efforts they are putting in order to help ad support all ALS patients and to spread awareness.
